I have a love/hate relationship with bamboo yarn. I love it because it's soo smooth and silky and soft and pretty, but it is a pain in the behind to knit with... but that said, I made a pretty hat for the baby with it and I'm making a second one for Kairi out of the same bamboo... so I'm glutten for punishment.

Soaker # 3 finished! I *just* finished my third pair of Picky Pants longies! The first pair I knit up using black and red Kool Wool (a discontinued yarn) but it was so thick it ended up being larger than planned: a medium instead of small. The second pair I knit up a toddler size with Cascade Quatro, but I added 2" extra rise, which was [in retrospect] a mistake because Kairi can pull them up to her chest... it's tempting to add straps and make them over-alls. This third pair I used Cascade 220 and knit up the small size. I was going to do the preemie/newborn size but since the weight range only goes to 8lbs for the newborn size I went with the small since Kairi (my daughter) was 8 1/2 lbs when she was born, I'm not expecting this baby to be small either. Anyway, I am so happy with how this third pair turned out :)
I'll get pictures up as soon as I can either get some film developed or borrow a digital camera. I want a digital camera...

Ahh the dreaded dropped stitch. Up until today if I dropped a stitch I would cry and frog the project. Not this time. Last night, while working on the ribbed cuff of the longies I'm making for Kairi I noticed something truly terrible: I had dropped a stitch and it had run down a couple rows. Worse still: my only crochet hook had disappeared! Crap. So, I reluctantly put down my work... sooooo close to being finished.
My darling husband (I love you Mike!) picked up a crochet hook on his way home from work today and guess what.... I FIXED IT!!! I picked up the stitch! I am soooo incredibly proud of myself. I know it seems like no big deal, but I've been so scared of dropped stitches for so long and I fixed it and it was no big deal and YAY!!!
I still need to graft the crotch and make the drawstring, but the majority of the work is done and tomorrow it shall be finished! Woohoo!
Today I am starting on a pair of small Picky Pants longies for the new baby. I'm using a light blue skein of Cascade 220. Not quite the idea yarn, but it's affordable and I can get it locally. Then I'm planning on knitting a (almost) matching hat out of bamboo. Bamboo is sooo silky soft. Yum.
